Jasper Report Part 2 : Connectivity with database

In Jasper report we need to database connectivity, using that we creating an report. I tell you step by step, how to connect with database.

In the tool bar you see the combo box, which display an already existing database connectivity list.

To create an new database connection click on Report Datasource button display in toolbar.

Which display an popup window as show below. To create new Datasource connectivity click on New button.

Then select you type of datasource. For JDBC connection select Database JDBC connection.

Then Enter your Database connection name you want.  Select JDBC Driver for databse like MySQL, Access, MSSQL ......
Enter Connection String in URL field, Enter username and password if any and check save password checkbox. Test Connection using Test Button and Save your connection.

Finally you find you Database connection into combo-box which are in tool bar. When you creating an report make sure that proper connection is selected.
